people sometimes talk of minerals and rocks as thought they were the same things.
however both terms have precise meaning
first :- minerals are naturally occurring inorganic substances .
coal and oil and naturall gas are not minerals because they are organic (formed from once living matter) they are called fossil fuels.
minerals consist of elements substances that can not be broken down into other substances by chemical means .
some minerals consist of one one elements.
but commonly they are chemical combinations of two or more elemnts.
each mineralhas has a definite composition and any part of a mineral is the same as any other part .
rocks :- are composed of mineral grains but the pro portions of minearls vary from one sample to another .
sometimes as in limestone a rock is composed mostly of mineral
but most rocks consist of two three or minearls .
rocks need not be solid sand peat and mud are rocks to geologists
